Week 14 · Term Two · One inspectable lantern

Codebreaker’s Keep

Turn one posted lantern into letters a family can check: a same-shift decode, a six-step algorithm, a rhyme that is not the message, a login that is not a puzzle, and a notebook that does not say the keep was opened.

A puzzle survives only the rule it can show.

Monday keeps −2 on every letter. Tuesday counts six steps. Wednesday splits JCTDQT from a dock rhyme. Thursday leaves the door login alone. Friday writes a notebook a skeptical family can inspect.

Day 1

Monday

20 minutes

Logic · One posted shift

Read the Lantern Card

Apply the same posted shift to every letter, and refuse a lucky guess as a decode.

Make

A lantern decode card

Keep handoff: The decode card is filed. The algorithm is still open — a finished word is not yet a written set of steps.

Day 2

Tuesday

25 minutes

Algorithms · Name the steps

Write the Shift Procedure

Count the posted steps, and refuse an all-shifts hunt as the algorithm.

Make

A shift procedure card

Keep handoff: The procedure card is filed. Language is still open — the same letters can sit in a rhyme that is not the decode.

Day 3

Wednesday

25 minutes

Language · Same letters, different rule

Separate the Dock Rhyme

Keep a first-letter rhyme and a shift decode as two objects, even when the letters match.

Make

A rhyme-versus-decode card

Keep handoff: The two-rule card is filed. Safety is still open — a labeled puzzle is not a permission to try a door.

Day 4

Thursday

20 minutes

Cyber safety · A puzzle is labeled

Leave the Door Alone

Keep puzzle work on a labeled card, and refuse a login or password hunt as a game.

Make

A safety boundary card

Keep handoff: The safety card is filed. Public writing is still open — a refused door is not yet a notebook a family can inspect.

Day 5

Friday

25 minutes

Public writing · A notebook families can check

File the Codebreaking Notebook

Write a notebook that uses this week’s letters and states what a shift card still cannot prove.

Make

A Codebreaking notebook

Keep handoff: The codebreaking notebook is filed. Term Two now has one inspectable lantern model — not a claim that a keep was opened.

Open the keep journal.

The notebook uses only work entered here. It does not infer an opened keep, a password game, grades, mastery, attendance, or accreditation.
